San Diego named by the Germans it means a whales virginia. OK that was for my fellow Anchorman fans. But seriously here is a a great place for you if you are going to this California city. The Ivy hotel has great customer service and the rooms are good. The thing that sets it apart from other spots in SD is its social venues. The Ivy has a sexy roof top pool great to get a tan, which turns into an out door club with a great view of he city. There is also an under ground club perfect for dancing popping bottles and late night fun. Not to mention the hotel has a fly restaurant with good eats perfect for dinner. At the end of the day if you you live in LA and want a quick fun get a way for a weekend the Ivy is it. You don’t even have to leave the hotel.

Prime Time

So one of my favorite places to eat was Prime 112 in South Beach. It’s an amazing steak house however I go there just for their sides. On my last trip to Miami I introduced to some thing new. It seems that Prime 112 was so popular it was packed every night, and they had to turn away a lot of business. So the owner Miles decided to buy the place across the street. There he opened Prime Italian with 50% the same menu as Prime 112 with an Italian twist. I didn’t think Prime 112 could top itself but it did. The garlic bread alone has me pressed to go back. So my advice to those of you heading to Miami make it your business to hit up one of the Primes you wont regret.

Shopping on the Beach

So one of the best things about going to Miami for the weekend is you can just pack underwear and shop when you get there. There several good places to pick up an outfit on the beach and Atrium is just one of those places. Weather its some fly shades to battle the sun in style, or some denim for the club you can find it at Atrium. So if your like me, and pack light when heading to Miami this is a good place to fill your suitcase on the return flight.

Art & The Beach

A lot of you complain about Miami and about how cheesy it is. You have asked me how I could like such a superficial place. Well the thing is if you don’t get away from the clubs and the beach thats all you will know. However there is a lot more to the tropical tip of our country. For example there is an area down town Miami budding with artist and creativity. It is called the design district. My good friend Max Pierre has taken it upon himself to create an amazing space in the area, especially for fly individuals like ourselves. This place is AE District. It serves as several things a gallery, retail space, screening room, event space and a high end dining room. On my last trip to Miami I had the oppertunity to check it out. Next time your in Miami you need to do the same thing.

Pizza on the Beach

This place is a classic and a lot of you have most likely experienced it. Pizza Rustica in South Beach is one of my favorite places in Miami to get a good slice of pizza. I remember the first time I stumbled in there from the club to get a late night bite. I almost lost my mind. Ever since then i must go there at least once when ever I’m in Miami. They have the most amazing combo topping pizza, as well their dough is so amazing a slice of plain will do you to.  When next in Miami if you haven’t tried it I strongly suggest you do. Weather its for a simple lunch of a late night after club snack. MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE ORIGINAL!

Rocking in Eden

So I recently went to Miami to hang out with friends and fam for my bday. I stayed at the newly renovated Eden Rock. This classic Miami hotel has had a major face lift to keep its old school flare while adding a modern feel. They have also built a ocean tower with 21 floors and all rooms have an ocean view. I was hooked up (shouts to Alana Blonde) with a corner suite on the 20th floor. The 180 view of the ocean and constant flowing sea breeze made it hard for me to leave the room.

If you looking for a spot to stay in South Beach add this to your list.

Say Cheese

So while on a trip for work in San Fran I walked by a cheese shop. Wifey and I are big on wine and cheese date night, so I figure I could get some cool points by bringing home some cheese. When I walked in I was hit with a whiff of truffle. They let me taste a cheese truffle blend they just got in… Did I mention they fly majority of their product in fresh from Italy.

So if you want some great cheese wines oils and all the tools for a great date night then this is the place. And to my single homies out there this is the a great way to get your player on. Fill your fridge and kitchen with items from this spot, then invite the ladies over, and get your Marcus Graham on.

No Pal of Mine!

Posted by Kenny Mac | Posted in Reviews | Posted on 04-05-2009

seriously

So I recently went to  SF and stayed at the Palomar. When I arrived it took about 20 mins for the valet to show up not because it as crowded or busy, just because homie wasn’t there. Once he came and got the car I realized that there wasn’t a bellman either. So I schlep my bags into the lobby and check in. The aesthetic of the lobby was kind of fly and I thought ok the bad service will be made up for by the room.

I continued with this assumption as I got on to the elevator which was sexy as well and even as I walked through the hallway.

I open the door to the room and I felt like I was hyped up just to be disappointed just like in “I’m Gonna Get You Sukka” (Please watch the Clip for reference)

The room was tiny and felt like a Best Western with a face lift.

Then I opened the Closet to get a robe and WOW! They literally had Tarzan themed robes and pajamas.

The bed was very comfortable, and I had a great night sleep. However when I woke up in the morning and I called the front desk to order room service and have them pull y car around, the phone rang for over 10 minutes. I had to just say forget it and just get up outta there.
